All right, so listen, I think a lot of times as agents, we have this internal governor. This throttle, throttling mechanism that when we get a certain amount of deals, we just give up. We're like, "Okay, well, we shouldn't go get more. We don't want to be greedy." We want to take care of the business that we have. We want to make sure that we service what we already have on the board.
The problem with that mentality is that number one, it just doesn't really help you grow properly. What I mean by that is, you know the law of supply and demand. If there's more demand than there is supply, then the price goes up. Now, I've said it before, as agents, we can't raise the price for our offerings, but what we can do is raise the bar on who we're going to service and deal with.
What I mean by that is specifically, only customers who are either in a certain price range or treat us the way that we want to be treated as far as professionalism is concerned or are willing to pay the fees or jump through the hoops that we have. For example, if they're buyers making sure that they're pre-approved, buyers' agency in place, what have you. If we don't have more demand than there is supply, it's impossible for us to do that because we're always concerned about where our next deal is going to come from.
The next thing that happens when you have more business than you can service is you start to think bigger, you start to think about how you can leverage and slice off some of that business to multiply yourself through others in order to have a team, which then it's weird when your paradigm changes in that way. What I like to think happens is that you start thinking about other people instead of just yourself. You start thinking about how you can improve someone else's life. I'm stopping here in the shade.
I think that there's tremendous power in that, as far as growth is concerned, as far as business is concerned because once you start thinking outside of yourself, you start thinking bigger, your paradigm is shifted. Once that paradigm is stretched out, it never really shrinks back to where it was. Sometimes, if the goal is too big, the constraints are too high, too much, then we'll force ourselves to shrink back and think smaller, but it's still always there. We still always want what we wanted. We always want that bigger business.
If you have that calling inside of your heart and inside of your life, that is what you are supposed to be doing. Don't run from it. Don't think because you got a couple of dozen deals or half a dozen on the board or something that you have to stop. Stop doing the things that you got you those deals because you're afraid. That's a lot of times what it is, it's fear. Fear of loss and a lot of things that were just ingrained with. I'm not an expert on this, but maybe wait for this guy to pass here.
Like I said, don't be greedy. Don't be greedy. Get what you got, those type of things. Just crap that were told us, we're younger, harder and dollar, for example, ones have to be harder. I don't like that, but rather have easy earned dollars. Heck, I'd rather have unearned income. That's what they call real estate, positive cash flow. Anyway, I would definitely say, focus on having more business than you can service on a regular consistent basis because when you do that, it will change everything. It will change your paradigm.
It'll change your way of thinking. It will change your business. It will change your income. It will change your lifestyle. It's scary. We call it biting off more than you could chew and nibbling like hell. If you haven't done it because you've shrunk back. A lot of times also there's the thought like a waste strike. That's another thing that we're brought up with. You got to eat all your food, starving kids in Africa. Well, I learned that eating all your food is not necessarily healthy for you.
Sometimes throwing it in the garbage is going to be better than putting it in your body, especially when it comes to other things that you can put in your body. You know what I'm saying? I don't listen to that anymore. It's not wasteful. If you're generating more leads than you can service, if you're generating more business than you can service, there's nothing wasteful about that. I would say continue to do that because what we'll do is we'll just help you elevate your game.
Like I said, you're going to bite off more than you can chew, nibble like hell to get through it, and you will end up with more business on the other side. I don't understand specifically how it works. We've talked about the clay pots were they had the two groups. One, that tried to make the best clay pot, and the other one that basically made a lot of clay pots in the quantity, beat out the people who were trying to focus on quality. Same thing in my experience in the real estate business. There you have it.
